Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh reaffirmed the strength of the US-India partnership, emphasizing the core principles of the Quad alliance during a press briefing at the Pentagon on Sep.27.

Singh highlighted that the Quad, a strategic coalition, is centered around ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Addressing questions about the future of US-India relations in light of recent high-level meetings, including the 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue in New Delhi and the Quad Leaders Summit in the US, Singh underscored the alignment of values among the Quad nations.

“The Quad is a group of like-minded nations coming together because they believe in a free and open Indo-Pacific. That is one of the many purposes of the Quad," Singh stated.

She added, "The partnership between India and the United States is certainly strong. The engagement that you saw from the president with Prime Minister Modi and others within the Quad builds upon the foundation and principles that the Quad was founded on.”

Singh also pointed to recent announcements following President Joe Biden’s meetings in Wilmington, Delaware, highlighting the progress in US-India relations.

The remarks follow the eighth US-India 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue, which took place on Sep.17 in New Delhi. US and Indian officials focused on deepening bilateral cooperation during the talks, co-chaired by Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Jedidiah P. Royal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the Quad Leaders Summit in Delaware from Sep.21-23, where he joined President Biden and the Australian and Japanese prime ministers to discuss regional security and cooperation.

The strengthening ties between the US and India, particularly within the Quad framework, reflect the shared commitment to upholding international rules and ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
