US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Dec.20 launched a new series of children’s books in New Delhi, reinforcing a strong commitment to advancing girls' education.

The five-series book written in Hindi is developed through the US Agency for International Development’s Scaling-up Early Reading Intervention program and implemented by Room to Read India.

Garcetti commented, “As Ambassador to India, I have prioritized girls’ education, recognizing it as one of the most transformative investments a society can make.”

“Educating girls provides them with knowledge and unlocks their potential to drive positive change within families, communities, and nations. The books we launch today represent a shared vision of inclusive education that challenges these barriers, fosters empathy, and inspires young girls to succeed.”

The book series promotes equality, challenges stereotypes, fosters inclusivity, and focuses on gender diversity and inclusivity.

“I was thrilled to launch an inspiring series of books that celebrate education, diversity, and inclusion. These stories empower children—especially girls—to dream big and break barriers. Together, let's move forward for education,” sharing the news of the book series launch in an X post, Garcetti wrote.

This book launch highlights the collaboration between the US and India in education, showcasing consistent efforts to enhance education systems, empower both students and teachers, and create inclusive learning spaces. By prioritizing access to quality education for all, this partnership stands as a beacon of international cooperation, driving a shared vision of opportunity, equality, and progress in today’s interconnected world.

In a collaborative Instagram post, the official pages of @usaidindia and @usembassyindia shared: “In New Delhi, Ambassador Garcetti launched a powerful series of storybooks that celebrate education, diversity, and inclusion! These stories address themes like breaking stereotypes and empowering girls to dream big and lead with confidence. With 129 million girls out of school globally—32 million of them at primary school age—let’s keep pushing for change. When girls thrive, communities thrive!”
