Indian American politician and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy took to social media following a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that resulted in the death of 26 tourists on Apr.22. "This was a horrific attack. We extend our condolences to the families of those who died & our prayers for those who were injured to recover quickly," he wrote on X.

US Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) also released a statement, expressing her sorrow over the attack. "I am deeply saddened by the senseless acts of violence and the loss of innocent lives caused by the terrorist attack in Jammu and Pahalgam," she said. "The victims, their families, and all those affected are in the thoughts and prayers of the American people. We stand united with India in condemning such acts of terror."

Congressman Marc Veasey, a member of the India Caucus, condemned the attack as well. In a statement issued on Apr.22, he expressed his heartbreak over the tragedy. "I am horrified and heartbroken by the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir today that claimed the lives of more than 20 innocent people. This senseless violence is an act of pure evil, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms."

Veasey stressed the need for strong international solidarity in fighting terrorism, adding, "Terrorism in any form is unacceptable, and the United States must stand shoulder to shoulder with our partners in India as they confront these cowardly attacks."

The attack also resonated with Veasey personally, as many residents in his district, particularly in the Valley Ranch area, have ties to the region. "This attack also hits close to home. Many families in North Texas—especially in the Valley Ranch area—have loved ones and deep ties to the region. To those in our own communities feeling fear, sorrow, and anger today: you are not alone. My office stands with you and we are ready to provide support."

He concluded his statement by reiterating a message of unity and resilience: "We will not allow extremists to sow fear, hatred, or division. We will continue to stand firmly for peace, justice, and security—for the people of India, for our Indian American neighbors, and for all who reject terrorism in all its forms."

Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, reposted a statement from the State Department on X: “The United States stands with India.”

The statement read: “The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Nothing can justify such a heinous act killing tourists and civilians. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. We continue to monitor the situation and call for perpetrators to be held accountable.”
