Washington, March 25: The United States on Monday asserted that a visa or a Green Card issued to foreign nationals to stay here are privileges offered by the US and are not birthrights.

“A visa is not an entitlement. A visa and a green card are not birthrights.  These are privileges. You are granted them because of what you present to the United States in trying to get it,” State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters at her news conference.
