Warner Music, Anjula Acharia launch U.S. label for South Asian talent

The label will also collaborate with 91 North Records, Warner Music’s Canada-based South Asian music imprint.

Warner Music Group has announced a joint venture with Indian-American entrepreneur Anjula Acharia to launch 5 Junction, a new label aimed at elevating artists of South Asian heritage in the United States.

The label will discover and support U.S.-based South Asian artists and enhance the global reach of Warner Music’s existing South Asian roster. It will work closely with Warner Records in Los Angeles, led by co-chairmen Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck.

"Bringing South Asian talent to western audiences and beyond isn't about trends – it's about truth,”  said Acharia, who will serve as founder of 5 Junction.

“My mission has been to translate that and show the world that representation isn't a favor – it's a force. Whether it's music, identity, marketing, or scale, moving fluidly between the intersection of culture and commerce is where the magic happens,” she added. 

Warner Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl praised Acharia’s experience, calling her a “creative and entrepreneurial dynamo” and noting WMG’s early investment in South Asian music’s global potential.

The move follows Warner’s growing presence in South Asia, where artists like Diljit Dosanjh, King, and Jasleen Royal have achieved global success. Dosanjh recently became the first Punjabi artist to headline Coachella and sell out arenas across North America.

Jay Mehta, managing director of Warner Music India, said the partnership marks a new chapter for South Asian music in the U.S., adding, “We’re only at the starting line.”
Acharia is widely credited with launching Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Hollywood career and previously founded Desi Hits!, which introduced Western pop stars to South Asian markets.
