Yash Fadte named finalist for 2025 Skillman Award
Before joining college, Yash Fadte made history as the first Indian to win the U.S. and French Junior Open in 2017.

Yash Fadte, an Indian-origin player from the University of Rochester, has been named a finalist for the 2025 Skillman Award, the top honor in men’s college squash, for his skill, leadership, and sportsmanship.
A four-time First Team All-Liberty League honoree and a former All-American, Fadte has made a lasting impact on the University of Rochester squash program. Last month, he recorded his 52nd career victory, further cementing his legacy as one of the program’s most accomplished players.
Fadte attended St. Joseph's Institute in Vasco Da Gama, India, where he participated in squash, cricket, table tennis, badminton, and swimming.
He competed internationally on the squash junior circuit and made history as the first Indian to win the French Junior Open Squash Championship in 2020 (U19).
He was also an Asian Junior Medalist in 2014, 2016, and 2019, and ranked No. 1 in India in the U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 categories. Additionally, he won the Pioneer German Junior Open in 2014 and became the first Indian to claim the U.S. Junior Open Squash title in 2017 (U17).
In addition to his on-court success, Fadte is known for his strong dedication to his teammates. His positive attitude, energy, and loyalty make him a fan favorite. Whether lifting spirits during tough times or stepping up in key matches, Fadte shows his commitment to both his team and the game.

"Yash is the kind of player who will do anything for his teammates," said his coach. "His lighthearted nature and love for the game make him an integral part of our program, and it’s been a privilege to coach him. His impact will be felt for years to come."
Other than Fadte, Nathan Kueh, University of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Rosini, Princeton University, have also been named finalists for the 2025 Skillman Award.
The winner of the award will be announced during the National Championships Reception on Mar. 7.
