Zohran Mamdani secures NY mayoral ballot spot with 30K signatures
Mamdani, who represents Queens' 36th Assembly District, announced that he has received more than 3,750 signatures from registered voters before the deadline to qualify for the ballot.

Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old son of filmmaker Mira Nair and the New York City mayoral candidate, announced in a video on X that he has successfully gathered the required signatures to appear on the June primary ballot far exceeding expectations.
New York law requires mayoral candidates to collect at least 3,750 signatures from registered voters by Apr.3 to qualify for the ballot. However, Mamdani's campaign set an ambitious internal goal of 10,000 signatures within six days. As the petitioning deadline approached, Mamdani learned that he had received triple that amount.
Mamdani, who represents Queens' 36th Assembly District, launched his mayoral bid in October 2024 with a campaign focused on housing affordability, public transit accessibility, and economic justice. He has pledged to freeze rents for stabilized tenants, expand fare-free bus service, introduce no-cost childcare, and establish city-owned grocery stores to combat rising food prices.
