FIA announces 2025 leadership team

Saurin Parikh will lead FIA as 2025 president, strengthening community engagement, and fostering India-U.S. ties.

Prominent US-based Indian Diaspora organisation, the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), NY-NJ-CT-NE has announced its 2025 executive team, with Saurin Parikh appointed as its 38th president. 

The announcement was made during the 2025 election cycle meeting held at Akbar Restaurant in Edison, New Jersey.  

The election process, overseen by chair Jayesh Patel and co-chairs Anand Patel and Alok Kumar, was finalized by FIA’s voting board members. Trustees and senior advisors, including H.R. Shah and Sudhir Parikh, were present. 

Board chairman Ankur Vaidya praised outgoing president Avinash Gupta for his leadership in 2024 and welcomed the incoming team, emphasizing FIA’s commitment to diversity and representation.  

Parikh, who has served FIA in various capacities since 2008, pledged to enhance community engagement and strengthen ties between the U.S. and India. A licensed professional engineer and Chief of Collection Systems Investigation at NYC DEP, Parikh brings over 25 years of professional experience to the role.  

The 2025 executive team includes executive vice president Smita Miki Patel, 1st vice president Priti Ray-Patel, and secretary Srishti Kaul Narula, among others. Additionally, entrepreneur Sreekanth Akkapalli will serve as convenor and reception chair, marking his first leadership role within FIA.

Outgoing president Gupta expressed pride in FIA’s accomplishments and pledged continued support to the new leadership. The organization reaffirmed its mission of fostering cultural and community ties for the Indian diaspora in the region.
