First Operation Ajay flight brings back 200 Indians from Israel
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, over 18000 Indians reside in Israel, with a significant part of them being students

Around 200 Indians stranded in War-hit Israel returned to India as the first flight under Operation Ajay, landed in Delhi on October 13. The mission was launched by the Indian government to facilitate the return of its citizens as the situation in Israel worsened over the weekend attacks by Militant group, Hamas.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar welcomed the passengers at the airport and greeted them. “Welcome to the homeland! 1st #OperationAjay flight carrying 212 citizens touches down in New Delhi,” the ministry of External Affairs said in a post on X.
According to reports, over 2600 casualties from the Middle East region have been reported as a result of the October 7 attack by Hamas and Israel’s subsequent counter-attack in the Gaza strip. Ministry of External Affairs, Minister, Arindam Bagchi said 18000 indians reside in Israel while three to four are in Gaza.
Bagchi, speaking to the media, stated that the nurse from Kerala who was working in Israel and was injured at the time of the Hamas attack was in the hospital and improving. He also said that her family had been in touch with the Ministry and that there had been no Indian casualties.
Meanwhile, Bagchi urged all Indians in Israel to register with the embassy and follow the advisory issued by them. “Our focus right now is to bring back Indians from Israel,” he said when asked if the government would provide assistance to Israel in terms of weapons or any other means.
