Florida Southern college names Laly Joseph as endowed chair
Joseph has served as a consultant for colleges in Malaysia and India and as a representative of the United Nations.

The Ann Blanton Edwards School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida Southern College has announced that Indian-American Dr. Laly Joseph has been appointed as the Dr. Keith R. Berend '92 endowed chair in nursing.
A board-certified adult nurse practitioner with eight degrees and certifications, Joseph has over thirty years of experience in the medical field. Earlier this year, she was appointed dean of the Ann Blanton Edwards School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Prior to that, she held positions of interim dean and professor at the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing in New York City. During her career, she has also served as a consultant for colleges in Malaysia and India and as a representative of the United Nations.
In 1985, Joseph graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Bombay Veterinary College in Mumbai. Prior to switching to nursing, she worked as a practicing veterinarian. After that, she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), where she earned her BSN in 1993, MSN in 2002, APRN certification in 2002, and DNP in 2009.
In addition to being an Experienced Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy Scholar with Sigma, Joseph is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Network, a distinguished fellow and practitioner of the Academy of Nursing, National Academies of Practice, and the project director of the AACN Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) Nursing Workforce Diversity Program Grant.
Reacting to the appointment, Joseph said, "I am truly honored to join the esteemed faculty at Florida Southern College. This endowed chair represents a remarkable opportunity to contribute to nursing education and research, and I look forward to collaborating with the talented students and faculty of Florida Southern College."
“I want to personally thank Dr. Kerr and the entire Board of Trustees at Florida Southern College for this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started with the wonderful faculty, staff, and students at Florida Southern,” she added.
