Entrepreneurial journeys vary widely, but it’s rare to see a scientist become a franchisee. Nish Patel, once a scientist, transitioned to become a multi-unit franchise owner with Lightbridge Academy in 2016, motivated by the challenge of finding quality childcare for his daughter.
Recognizing a gap in his community, Patel began franchising with a mission to offer integrated childcare and education. Lightbridge Academy provides early childhood education and childcare services, combining a child-centric approach with a strong focus on family involvement, high operational standards, and a supportive community environment across its centers.
With an upcoming grand opening in Doylestown, PA, and additional plans in Charlotte, NC, he now intends to launch to 30- 35 additional locations. Patel discusses his experiences with franchises and his desire to leave a lasting impression on his community in this exclusive interview with New India Abroad.
"The transition from scientist to franchise owner might seem like a significant shift," Patel begins, “but there’s a surprising overlap in the skills needed for both roles.” He credits his background in analytical thinking, attention to detail, and project management for providing an unexpected edge in the franchise world.
