From anxiety to action: Indian-American teen tackles mental health stigma

“I have learned that education is the first step toward anything I want to achieve in life,” says Rohan.

At just 16, Rohan Satija, an Indian-American teen, has already made a lasting impact on his community in Austin, Texas. Alongside his sister Anya, he co-founded the Let’s Learn Foundation, which has donated over 60,000 books and 105,000 school supplies to more than 13,000 underprivileged students since 2018.

What led him to start this organization, though, is not just a story of generosity but one born out of personal struggle– anxiety, cultural barriers, and the solace he found in books.

In an exclusive interview with New India Abroad, Rohan shares his experience as a young non-profit founder. He tells us about his favorite books, important life lessons and the idea of giving back to one's community without expecting anything in return.
