On a fine day in September 2024, I received an invitation to sing in the early morning session of “Subah E Banaras” in February of this year. Soon after that, I got an invitation to sing in the “Naad Yatra” program organized by Sanskar Bharati and Indira Gandhi National Center for Art in Banaras. The nearly 3000 year old, holy city of Banaras is a well-known center for music.
Legendary Vocalists, Shehnai, Sitar, Veena and Tabla players have put Banaras on the world music map. Naturally, a chance to sing in Banaras was a precious opportunity for me.

After the “Naad Yatra” and “Subah E Banaras” concerts got confirmed for February 27 and 28, 2025 respectively, I quickly purchased airline tickets to go to Banaras. But I had absolutely no idea that Maha Kumba Mela would be going on from January 13 through February 26 and that Mahashivratri was on February 26.
