Gangaur festival celebrated in Philadelphia
The celebration coincided with Rajasthan Divas, marking the State's 75th year of formation

The Bharatiya Hindu Temple in Philadelphia observed the Hindu festival Gangaur recently.
The festival, primarily celebrated by women in northern and western India, marks the arrival of spring and harvest.
The celebration at the Bharatiya Hindu Temple included traditional rituals and a procession, where attendees carried wooden idols of Gaur and Isar, crafted by Jodhpur artisan Prahlad Kumawat.
Emphasizing eco-consciousness, the ornate idols highlighted Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage while promoting sustainability through the use of wood.
Esteemed figures such as Tarang Soni, president ROAR, New Jersey, Mukesh Modi, Hollywood and Bollywood film producer, writer, and director, New York, Jeanne Sorg Mayor of Ambler Township,. Tanya Bamford, Supervisor of Montgomery Township, Sharad Agrawal, secretary of IBA, Indian Business Association of New Jersey, and volunteers from SEVA USA attended the event.
The celebration coincided with Rajasthan Divas, marking the State's 75th year of formation. Children presented research on Rajasthan's history, cuisine, landmarks, and heroes, enriching the community's understanding of their heritage.
Gangaur is also Known as Chaitra Gauri Vrat in Maharashtra and Karnataka and Saubhagya Gauri Vratam in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
