The Mantrah-Sudarshanam 2023 Global Hindu Convention, hosted by the Houston Malayalee Association of North American Hindus, recently concluded at the prestigious Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston.
The event brought together a diverse array of guests, including Swami Satchidananda, Shashikala Teacher, Swami Mukthananda Yati, Sreenadh Karyatt, actor Unni Mukundan, Ramachandra Pulavar, director Vishnu Mohan, Ranjith Trippunithura, Manoj Namboothiri and other Hindu scholars.
Appreciating the efforts of the organizers, Swami Satchidananda, in his speech, highlighted the significance the term “mantra.” He emphasized that is not merely a set of words, but it symbolizes the divine protection bestowed upon those who contemplate it.
In a video message, Swami Mukthananda Yati emphasized the importance of Indian philosophy and the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in guiding individuals towards a successful and righteous life. Sashidharan Nair, chairman of the trustee board, acknowledged the convention’s significance as a transformative model for the burgeoning Hindu community in America.
According to a release, the event aimed to provide spiritual nourishment to the Hindu community, fostering personal growth and development. It served as a powerful platform that united and celebrated the essence of Hindu culture and traditions.
During the event 300 cultural competitions, showcasing diverse art forms such as Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Folk, and Free Dance were held for children. Additionally, participants engaged in competitions for Narayaneeyam recitation, poetry, and essay writing.
The beauty pageant during which Indian children radiated confidence, poise, and cultural pride as they graced the stage in their traditional attire, showcasing the diversity and splendor of Indian fashion, was a highlight of the event.
Special awards were presented to Fort Bend County Judge Surendran Pattel and Dr J.K Raman for their support. “I am immensely proud of the Houston Mantrah – Sudarshanam team for organizing such a remarkable convention. It serves as a transformative model for our burgeoning Hindu community in America, addressing the concerns and aspirations of the present generation,” Athira Nair Youth chair of the Houston Mantrah- Sudarshanam Convention said of the event.
