Google chief technologist Prabhakar Raghavan joins USISPF board
Raghavan, who works closely with Google CEO Sundar Pichai, is recognized as a leading expert in search technologies, with over two decades of research in algorithms, web search, and databases.

The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has appointed Prabhakar Raghavan, chief technologist at Google, to its board of directors, marking its first board announcement of 2025.
Raghavan, who works closely with Google CEO Sundar Pichai, is recognized as a leading expert in search technologies, with over two decades of research in algorithms, web search, and databases. He has authored over 100 research papers and holds 20 patents, including several on link analysis for web search.

USISPF president and CEO Mukesh Aghi welcomed the appointment emphasizing Raghavan’s expertise in driving U.S.-India technological collaboration. “The relationship between the United States and India is at a pivotal stage, with initiatives like iCET and INDUS-X playing a crucial role in AI and next-generation defense technology. Prabhakar’s leadership will support India’s digital transformation, as demonstrated by Google’s continued investments in the country’s digital infrastructure,” Aghi stated.
USISPF chairman John Chambers highlighted the importance of Raghavan’s role in advancing AI cooperation. “As Prime Minister Modi said during his 2023 state visit, AI is not just artificial intelligence, but America and India. The addition of Prabhakar to our board strengthens our leadership in the global AI race,” he said.
Raghavan, who joined Google in 2012, expressed his commitment to deepening the U.S.-India partnership. “India is uniquely positioned in the global technology landscape, from its billion-plus population to its pioneering digital platforms like UPI. Google is deeply invested in India’s digital future, and I look forward to contributing to this mission,” he said.
Before becoming Google’s chief technologist, Raghavan led its Knowledge and Information division, overseeing Search, Ads, Commerce, and AI-driven products. He previously held leadership roles at Yahoo! Labs, Verity, and IBM Research.
Born in India, Raghavan earned his undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras before pursuing a doctorate in electrical engineering and COMPUTER SCIENCE from the University of California, Berkeley.
