BAPS Charities has launched the SOCALSTRONG Relief and Recovery Fund to assist communities devastated by the wildfires across Los Angeles.
The fires that began on Jan.7 have displaced thousands, leaving many without homes, access to basic necessities, or power. At least 24 people have died in what California Governor Gavin Newsom said could be the most devastating natural disaster in U.S. history.
Flames have reduced whole neighborhoods to smoldering ruins, leveling the homes of the rich and famous and ordinary folk alike, and leaving an apocalyptic landscape. Officials said at least 12,300 structures have been damaged or destroyed.
In response to the crisis, BAPS Charities has mobilized resources to provide immediate aid and long-term support to those affected. Their volunteers have been actively delivering supplies to resource hubs and shelters.
According to the campaign website, donations were made to the Pasadena Convention Center and a resource hub in Highland Park, where evacuees and first responders received critical supplies, such as water, hygiene products, blankets, and first aid kits.

A volunteer drive was held at the BAPS Charities headquarters in Los Angeles on January 11. Community members were encouraged to donate essential items, including hygiene products, baby supplies, and non-perishable snacks. The collected items were dispatched to shelters and relief hubs throughout the day.
Additionally, BAPS Charities is working closely with local authorities and emergency response teams to ensure aid reaches those who need it most. A representative from the organization emphasized their commitment to the recovery efforts, stating, “We are dedicated to supporting the community through these difficult times. Every effort counts as we help families rebuild their lives.”
The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills, a part of the international BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, is playing a key role in coordinating the efforts. Known for its humanitarian initiatives, the organization has urged the public to contribute to the SOCALSTRONG Relief and Recovery Fund, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing the crisis.
