All ten teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are gearing up for the IPL 2024 auction, having determined which players to keep and release ahead of the bidding war.
The biggest change that has come so far is the signing of Hardik Pandya by the Mumbai Indians. Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, decided to rejoin his former team after playing for GT for two seasons.
The Gujarat-based team, meanwhile, selected Shubman Gill to be their captain. “We’ve seen him mature not only as a batter but also as a leader in cricket,” Vikram Solanki, director of Cricket, Gujarat Titans said.
Cameron Green was traded by the Mumbai Indians to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Captained by Faf du Plessis, the latter team retained their ace player Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Himanshu Sharma amongst others.
Delhi Captains wisely retained Rishabh Pant, despite it being was unclear when he would play again. Due to his involvement in a car accident in December 2022, Pant was ruled out of IPL matches in 2023. David Warner, Ishant Sharma added hopes to the team’s lineup while they released Rilee Rossouw, Chetan Sakariya amongst others.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals, captained by Sanju Samson, retained Yashasvi Jaiswal, the youngster who shot to fame in the fame in 2023 and bowler Ravichandran Ashwin while they let go of Kuldeep Yadav and traded Avesh Khan.

Punjab Kings, captained by Shikhar Dhawan, released Raj Bawam, Baltej Singh while they retained Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk). Defending Champions, Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, retained Moeen Ali, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, while they released Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, Bhagath Varma amongst others.
Kolkata Knight Riders retained Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, while they released Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Aarya Desai.
Sunrisers Hyderabad in a bold move released Harry Brook, Samarth Vyas, Kartik Tyagi, while they retained Aiden Markram (captain) Abdul Samad, and Rahul Tripathi amongst others.
Lucknow Super Giants released Jaydev Unadkat, Daniel Sams, while they retained star player KL Rahul (captain), Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Mohsin Khan. Their traded players include Devdutt Padikkal (from Rajasthan Royals).
Mumbai Indians released Mohd. Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Hrithik Shokeen. Their retained players include Rohit Sharma (captain), Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan. Their traded players include Romario Shepherd (traded in from Lucknow SuperGiants).
