Indian-American entrepreneur and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy has voiced strong support for Donald Trump's selection of JD Vance as his vice-presidential candidate for the forthcoming US presidential elections.
Ramaswamy, who shares a history with Vance as a former classmate, commended him as an exemplary choice for the vice presidency. "So proud of my friend, classmate, and fellow southwest Ohioan today. We used to watch Bengals games at the bar in law school, it's awesome we're now here a decade later with JD joining the strongest presidential ticket in our lifetime," Ramaswamy wrote on X.
"He'll be an outstanding vice president and I look forward to everything ahead for him and for our country,” Ramaswamy further said.

In an interview with NBC News Now, Ramaswamy highlighted Vance's humble beginnings and the potential positive impact his candidacy could have in bringing new voters.
"JD was born in humble circumstances and has lived the American dream. His wife, Usha, who is also a friend of our family and a law school classmate, could be a significant asset in this campaign by reaching non-traditional voters. JD himself has a unique perspective that can bring in new voters. He wasn't a Donald Trump supporter back in 2016, which allows him to connect with others who weren't in Trump's camp then. He can genuinely share why he changed his stance and encourage others to join him," he said.

These remarks come after Ramaswamy's exit from the 2024 Republican presidential race following a fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, where he trailed Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Trump officially announced his choice of Vance as Vice President on Truth Social. "After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio."
