Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp has appointed Indian American entrepreneur, Himanshu Karnwal to the board of directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA)
The GRTA board plays a critical role in overseeing transportation planning and mobility initiatives across Georgia. It addresses mobility, air quality, and land use in metro Atlanta.
Karnwal is the founder and CEO of ISHTECH INC, an IT solutions architecture and design company with over 12 years of successful operations. With 25 years of experience in the information technology industry, he has worked with Fortune 100 companies such as Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, eBay, and Nike, managing and designing global IT infrastructures.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Karnwal is an active community leader. He serves as a planning commissioner for Johns Creek and sits on the board of directors for the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce. His involvement extends to several organizations, including Rotary Johns Creek North Fulton and advisory boards for Quantiphi and Waypoint 2 Space.
A strong advocate for the Indian and Asian communities in North Fulton, Johns Creek, and South Forsyth, Karnwal is the founder and chairman of a National Indian Association in the greater Atlanta area. He also serves on the board of the Georgia chapter of U.S. Impact, an organization representing the Indian American community.
Established under Governor Roy Barnes, GRTA oversees transportation planning across 13 counties. GRTA coordinates regional transit and infrastructure projects, ensuring sustainable development and improving connectivity in one of the nation’s most congested urban areas.
