The Kural Koodal Semmozhi Foundation (KKSF) paid homage to its Tamil heritage by hosting Thirukkural recitation event at the Sri Meenakshi Temple’s Youth Center in Pearland, Texas. On Apr.6, 133 participants, including toddlers and elders, lend their voice to the ancient verses of Thiruvalluvar.
They reverberated the venue with linguistic beauty and intergenerational wisdom by reciting the first kural of an adhigaram and sharing its life-affirming meaning.
Dr T. Vijayalakshmi, Chair of Tamil Studies at the University of Houston, formally inaugurated the event and delivered a keynote on the relevance of Thirukkural in today’s world.
Mala Gopal, President of KKSF, emphasized the Foundation’s mission to preserve and promote Tamil literature across generations. “We are here not only to celebrate Thirukkural,” she said in a statement, “but to awaken the spirit of Tamil within every heart, young and old.”
In her closing remarks, Gopal expressed deep gratitude to the participants, their families, and the dedicated KKSF team. “This is just the beginning,” she noted. “With your continued support, we look forward to bringing more adhigarams and kurals to life through future events and recordings.”
