HindiUSA hosts annual Hindi poetry competition

All participants were awarded medals, and the winners received trophies.

The Saint Louis chapter of HindiUSA, a non-profit organization that promotes the Hindi language, recently hosted its 6th annual Hindi Poetry Competition on January 20, 2024 at the cultural auditorium of the Hindu Temple of Saint Louis in Ballwin, MO.

The largest Hindi Poetry Competition in the Midwest USA also served as a celebration of "World Hindi Day," where children and volunteers participated by reciting numerous well-known Hindi poems.

Over 120 students across 8 different Hindi grade levels took part in the competition with 28 students securing top positions. The winners will proceed to compete in HindiUSA's inter-school national level competition scheduled for March 2024, a release stated.

To ensure fairness, impartiality, the participants were evaluated by five judges from the community including Vishwakant Tripathi, Dr. Mira Jain, Ashok Gangawani, Dr. Pradeep Singh, and Suman Rausaria.  The program was structured into two segments, with two judges assigned to each segment. 

The event also featured street-style food vendors and Banarasi saree vendors to enhance the overall experience. 

Hindi-USA Saint Louis holds the official status of being a school under Hindi USA, a registered non-profit organization. The school's overarching vision is dedicated to disseminating the understanding of the Hindi language and Indian culture among the children residing and growing up in America.
