The Sri Venkateswara Lotus Temple in Fairfax, Virginia, on May.30 organized an event ‘Yuva Chetana’ to celebrate the accomplishments of youth and wish them well as they embark on the next stage of their lives, particularly as they transition to college after completing high school.
The Sri Venkateswara Lotus Temple in Virginia extended invitations to a law enforcement officer from Fairfax County and a doctor to address young adults on a range of topics. These discussions encompassed advice on navigating college life, including appropriate courses of action, avenues for seeking assistance, and strategies for engaging with the community to address challenges effectively.
The entirety of the event was coordinated and executed by recent graduates, who took the opportunity to impart their wisdom and insights to the next generation.
The speakers addressed various important topics, including identifying conditions such as depression, loneliness, bullying, and peer pressure, and empowering the youth to stand up for themselves. Additionally, the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and inspirational quotes from Swami Vivekananda served as notable highlights of the event.
The students received blessings from the temple priests and were gifted a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. They were encouraged to read the book during their free time.
The temple is hosting various community outreach events and services with the aim of fostering unity within the Hindu community. Through these initiatives, the temple endeavors to inspire the youth and impart positive core values to future generations.
