IAB recognises community organisations at Diwali Fest

This year, IAB honored Saheli Boston and other organizations for their work in bringing the Indian American community together

Earlier this month, the Indian Americans for Burlington (IAB) organized a grand Annual Diwali festival in Burlington to commemorate the Festival of Lights. More than 1000 people attended the event including selectmen, school superintendent, State Representatives, and Town officials.

The town gazeebo was decorated with colorful flowers and Rangoli, displaying the festive ambiance and Indian culture. Mesmerizing cultural performances that showcased India's diverse traditions were one of the evening's highlights. Dancers dressed in vibrant traditional attire enthralled the audience with their graceful moves and energy. 

A bustling marketplace with colorful clothing, jewelry, and handicrafts along with a dedicated area for children that offered a range of activities, including carnival games added to the festive atmosphere.

Each year, IAB honors an organization for its outstanding work. This year, "Saheli-Boston," as well as other New England organizations such as Hindi Manch, IAGB, NEMM, FISCO, and TMM, have worked hard to bring the community together and nourish Indian culture in their own unique ways were felicitated.

Deepa Agrawal, president of the IAB and the executive committee members Smita Kapadia, Atul Bhammar, Amrit Soni, Shweta Mathur, Vaidehi Pathak, Menka Jethra, Vasantha Kannan and Shilpa Patangay expressed their joy at the successful celebration by saying, "Diwali is a time when we come together as a community to celebrate our shared heritage and values. 

The event concluded with the tradition of lighting the Akash Pradeep, which symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
