Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named the ICC Player of the Month for February 2024 by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The left-handed batsman received recognition for his incredible performance during the five-match Test series at home against England, in which he scored 712 runs. He is the second Indian batsman to achieve more than 700 runs in a bilateral match, behind Sunil Gavaskar.
The 22-year-old is currently leading the ICC World Test Championship in runs scored, courtesy of his two brilliant double-hundreds in back-to-back Test matches in February.
“I’m very happy to win this ICC award and I hope that there will be more in the future. It’s my first five match series and it’s been an incredible experience with all my mates,” Jaiswal said on receiving the honor.

“I continue to put in the hard yards in my practice sessions, learning from my seniors and trying my best on the ground. My highlight was probably celebrating my double-century in Rajkot. That was something I really enjoyed,” he added.
In his three Test matches during February, Jaiswal amassed 560 runs at an average of 112, sparking India's comeback from a 1-0 deficit to win the series.
In the second Test match in Visakhapatnam, where the home team defeated the visiting team by 106 runs, the 22-year-old kicked off the month with a brilliant double-century. Standing tall where his colleagues faltered, he scored a superb 209 in the first innings.
Subsequently, in the second innings of the third Test in Rajkot, the opener went one better, launching a furious assault in his undefeated 214 to tie the record for the most sixes in a Test innings (12) and contribute to a decisive victory.
After beginning the series in 69th place, the opener experienced a historic month that culminated in a significant climb up the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, where he currently stands in the top ten.
“I’m really enjoying this moment and I’m looking forward to the next series,” Jaiswal who became the first Indian to win Men's Player of the Month since Shubman Gill in September 2023 said.
