ICCR announces Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music International Scholarship

The scholarship is specifically designed for foreign/ Indian originnationals to study in Indian universities

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations is inviting applications for its Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music International Scholarship for the current academic year. 

The online application process kicked off on February 20 and the last date to apply online is April 30. The scheme is open to students from all countries across the world.

Giving more details about the scheme, an official said, “A total of 100 scholarships will be offered globally on a first come first serve basis. Under this scheme, various programmes will be offered such as Indian classical dance and music which includes vocal and instrumental training.”

“This scheme is circulated globally through Indian embassies. The embassies are informed about the nitty gritties of the scheme such as the number of scholarships being provided for the current academic year. We request them to inform the interested candidates regarding the application process through their suitable platforms,” the official added.

The scholarship is specifically designed for foreign nationals to study in Indian universities and is also applicable to Indians who are citizens of that particular country. For the last 30 years, ICCR has been providing this scholarship.

“This is an offline scholarship under which students have to come here, get enrolled with the university with whom we have signed a memorandum of understanding. We will also bear the cost of the university and also a monthly stipend will be paid to the students selected under the scholarship,” the official further elaborated.

The objective of ICCR is to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries and to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people.
