Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a prominent Sikh leader and entrepreneur, expressed his confidence in the capacity of former President Donald Trump to resolve global conflicts, including the Middle East crisis and the Ukraine-Russia war.

“I think he's doing very good for the country and for the world,” Dhaliwal, who received India’s highest honor for non- resident Indians, told New India Abroad on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“If Trump was in the White House, there wouldn't be any Ukraine war today. There wouldn't be any Middle East war. And I can bet you anything today, if he wins before January 20th, both wars are going to be stopped,”  the Milwaukee-based billionaire said.

Trump is Commander-in-chief

Dhaliwal described the recent assassination attempt against Trump as a "very sad thing" and criticized the current state of political violence.

Nevertheless, he admired Trump's resilience, noting, "When he was shot, a normal human being would have been shaken up. And he came up and he's saying that, fight, fight. That shows that he could be a good commander in chief."

“That's his quality. I think it will be good for the country and for the world if he becomes the president,” Dhaliwal opined.

Republican chances

In light of the increasing dissatisfaction with the current administration, Dhaliwal appeared to be confident that the Republicans would secure a majority in the House and Senate during the forthcoming elections.

Dhaliwal emphasized that the United States recovered its status as a global leader during Trump's previous administration, in contrast to under the current administrationwhere it seeing diminished influence. "In the last four years when he was president, he brought that thing back up. Now we again lost it," he remarked.

Dhaliwal emphasized that Trump prioritizes America's interests and has a strong stance on international conflicts.

Strengthening India-U.S. relations

Dhaliwal also commended the strong relationship between India and the U.S., attributing much of the progress to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The relationship between India and the U.S. is doing really good. I'm really proud of Modi, what he has done," he said. He highlighted the increased global recognition of India over the past decade, crediting Modi for enhancing India's image and standing on the world stage.

Discussing the potential impact of Trump's presidency on India-U.S. relations, Dhaliwal was optimistic. "I think now with Trump coming into power, our relationship is going to get even better," he concluded.
