The brightest minds from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) will convene at the IIT2024 Global Conference in Washington D.C. The three-day conference is scheduled from January 12 to 14.
The conference organised by PanIIT USA aims to serve as a platform for IIT alumni from all over the world to come together, network, collaborate, and ideate on important issues related to technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and societal impact.
The foundational theme for the IIT2024 Global Conference is innovation. It will focus on four major areas – artificial intelligence, health and medicine, energy and environment, and India Rising.
The event will feature over 50 speakers, who are recognized experts and thought leaders from the fields of education, consumer technology, philanthropy, economics, medicine, etc.
Shilpi Sharma, chief strategy officer Yum! Brands and CEO-co-founder at Kvantum, Vinod Khosla, founder-CEO of Khosla Ventures, Sal Khan, founder-CEO of Khan Academy, David Rubenstein, chairman of Carlyle Group, and India’s Union Cabinet Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw are among the speakers.
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi and PanIIT U.S., an organization representing the alumni network, will host a congressional reception at the US Capitol Rayburn Building between 3 pm to 5 pm local time. Entry is by invitation.
India’s envoy to the U.S., Taranjit Singh Sandhu will host a reception at the Indian Embassy with Government of India officials between 6 pm to 8 pm. Entry is by invitation. Simultaneously, a conference welcome party will commence at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, the venue for the conference on all three days.
Registrations will begin at 7 am and will continue to 6 pm. The conference will open at 8 am. The first keynote address will begin at 8:20 am. Vinod Khosla and Arjun Malhotra, chairman of Magic Software, will speak on Breakthrough Investing – AI, CleanTech, and Biotech.
The second keynote speech of the day – India Rising – will be delivered by Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. It will be followed by a keynote panel discussion on the Global Economy by Raj Singh, chairman-CEO of Telcom Ventures LLC, and David Rubenstein. For the full schedule of the day, click here.
Things to look out for on the final day of the conference include the keynote panel on Growing the Indo-US Critical Technology Ecosystem delivered by Govindan Rangarajan, director of IISc, Bangalore, Subhasis Chaudhuri, director, IIT Bombay, with others. It will be moderated by Rajat Gupta, chairman PanIIT USA.
