Illinois Tech, Shiv Nadar Foundation launch scholarship for Indians

The partnership has already seen two beneficiaries enrol as first-year students at Illinois Tech.

Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) and the Shiv Nadar Foundation announced a new scholarship program aimed at providing high-quality undergraduate education to meritorious students from rural India. 

This initiative will benefit graduates from VidyaGyan, a leadership academy established by the Shiv Nadar Foundation inUttar Pradesh, India,  to nurture academically exceptional students from underserved regions.

The partnership has already seen two VidyaGyan alumni, Raj Dwivedi and Vijay Pratap Singh, enroll as first-year students at Illinois Tech. Dwivedi, hailing from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is pursuing a major in computer science with aspirations in quantum computing. Singh, from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, is majoring in computer engineering with a focus on semiconductors.

“Receiving this scholarship is one of the most significant moments in my life,” said Dwivedi. “Illinois Tech has such a vibrant community and knowledgeable professors—every time I talk to a new professor, I walk away with a fresh idea.”

Pratap Singh echoed similar sentiments: “I would not have been able to study abroad without this scholarship, so I’m deeply grateful to the Shiv Nadar Foundation for believing in us. Their confidence fuels my determination to excel and do something truly impactful.”

Mallik Sundharam, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Illinois Tech, added, "We are delighted to formalize this partnership with the Shiv Nadar Foundation to support VidyaGyan students. By welcoming these exceptionally talented individuals to our campus, we are enriching our community with unique perspectives of global first-generation students."
