The National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU) recently felicitated a group of Indian alumni from British universities at the India-UK Achievers Honors' reception in London.
The honor celebrates the professional and social contributions of Indians who have studied in the UK, as per a statement.
10 individuals under eight categories were awarded at the ceremony in the presence of Karan Bilimoria, assistant secretary general of the Commonwealth Luis Gabriel Franceshi, and Alison Barrett, director of The British Council India.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also sent a personal message to the winners, recognizing the ‘exceptional talent’ and the strength of the ‘special’ UK-India partnership, as per PIE News.
Asma Khan from King's College London and Atul Khatri from the University of Manchester were declared winners under the arts, culture, and education category.
University of Leeds’ alumni Harish R Bhat was awarded under the business and entrepreneurship stream. Under the government and politics stream, chief minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangama from Imperial College London and Jayesh Ranjan from LSE were awarded.
In addition, Samridhi Arora from the University of Oxford in law; Sonia Singh from Cardiff University in media and journalism; Else Marie Dsilva, founder of the non-profit Red Dot Foundation (India) and president of Red Dot Foundation Global (US), from the University of Oxford under society and policy; Dr Raghu Ram Pillarisetti from Royal College of Surgeons under education, science and innovation; and Neeraj Chopra, India's Olympic champion, from Loughborough University under sports were also felicitated.

Filmmaker and screenwriter Zoya Ahktar was honored with a special achievement award. She further addressed the gathering on the impact of the creative industries in India.
In addition, the Warwick India Forum of the University of Warwick bagged the best student society recognition. It was formed to raise awareness about India and provide a platform to address its socio-economic, political, cultural, and environmental issues.
