In the most recent FIFA World Rankings announced on June 29, 2023, the Indian men's national football team moved up from 101 position to 100, with a total point of 1204.90, surpassing Lebanon and New Zealand. The improvement comes ahead of the team’s semifinal match in the South Asia Football Federation Championship to be held on July 1.
The one place improvement comes as a significant achievement for the Blue Tigers, who have not breached into the top 100 of the world rankings since they ranked 96 in 2018. The team's rank came up to 94th place in 1996, 99th in 1993 and 96th rank in 2017 to 2018.
