The Miss World pageant will return to Indian shores in 2024 after thirty years, the last time being in 1996, when Irene Skliva of Greece won the crown. The 2024 pageant will be themed 'Beauty with a Purpose.' The pageant will begin on February 19 in Delhi and end on March 9, 2024, at the Jio Convention Center in Mumbai.

For 2024, the organizers have planned the pageant as a festival, details of which were shared at a media conference in India, recently. It was attended by the reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, and previous title winners Manushi Chillar from India, Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico among others.

The purpose is “bringing the world to India and bringing India to the world,” Rishi Negi, group CEO for Endemol Shine India and Banijay Asia, said at the event. The pageant will be live broadcast on the Sony LIV app.

“Our job is to promote India in the best light. It is a lovely country…I want all the nations around the world to want to come to India…Let’s put our best foot forward for India,” Julia Morley, chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, said at the event.

Miss World 2016 Del Valle said, “For me it is an incredible honour to be back in India…India holds such a special place in my heart not just because of the love and warmth I receive from all the people here but also because I have had the chance to travel with Manushi throughout the country when we were promoting her beauty with a purpose project,” she said.

Chillar said she was excited that India is the host of the pageant this year. “That one night changed my life,” Chillar said reflecting on her win. “On 9th of March, it is going to change another girl’s night…So I am only excited that the world is coming to India and we are going to show the world what we can offer.”

Miss World 2023, Bielawska said, “As a reigning Miss World I had the chance of coming to India plenty of times and I fall in love with your country and that is why I could not be more excited to be here for the entire month of the 71st Miss World Festival… I hope everyone coming here including my friends and family will get a chance to have this immersed feel of Incredible India.”
