During their discussions, the forum highlighted shared priorities in geopolitics, security, and economic cooperation, focusing on strengthening collaboration between the two democracies. Topics included digital infrastructure, technology, foreign investment, and the influential role of the Indian diaspora.
“Democracies work best when democracies work together,” said Manoj Ladwa, IGF founder and chairman. “Today, we are here not just to discuss policies or trends but to actively shape the synergies between India and the United States – two of the world's greatest democracies, working together to navigate a complex and rapidly changing global landscape.”
Key participants included Jacob Helberg, the incoming Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, and Ajit Pai, former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman, who discussed Trump administration policies on technology, big tech regulation, and the newly established DOGE agency. Dhruva Jaishankar, ORF America executive director, addressed U.S.-India strategic priorities under the new administration.
Scott Tranter of Decision Desk provided insights into the 2024 U.S. elections and predicted key policy trends. A former national security official emphasized opportunities for deepening ties in defense procurement, energy, and supply chains.
