India in NY hosts webinar for senior travel to India

The Acting CG said that travel is now more comfortable due to the extensive communication infrastructure and cheap air, rail, and road connectivity.

The Consulate General of India in New York recenty hosted a webinar on Senior Travel in India, aimed at exploring the best destination options and travel tips for seniors.
Acting Consul General of New York, Dr. Varun Jeph, welcomed attendees and encouraged everyone, particularly the elderly, to start planning trips to popular tourist spots in India.

He observed that travel within the country is becoming more convenient and enjoyable. He announced that obtaining a travel visa is now easier than ever and can be done the very same day an application is submitted. 

India offers a wide variety of traditional and modern tourist attractions, making it one of the most diverse countries in the world. "A city like Varanasi receives 70 million visitors per year, and the numbers are similarly high in other Indian tourist destinations as well," the diplomat said, comparing it to New York City, which receives 50 million visitors per year. 
He elaborated by saying that travel is now more comfortable thanks to the extensive communication infrastructure, cheap air, rail, and road connectivity.

During her presentation, Neha Arora, founder of Planet Abled, mentioned that these tourist spots offered services tailored to seniors. She listed a plethora of options, including a caretaker who can accompany the traveler at all times, a tour guide who is accommodating to slower travelers, private jets, ramps designed for people with disabilities, assistance with accessible needs, and many more. 

She said that vacations can be fulfilling whether they are for spiritual purposes (such as visiting temples and participating in retreats), for physical rejuvenation (such as visiting ayurveda or yoga centers to receive natural treatments for ailments), or for leisure.
