The Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched an International Film Poster Making Challenge as part of the World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES).
The competition, open to individuals of any nationality 18 years or older, encourages participants to create innovative and visually compelling reimagined posters for Indian films. The top 20 selected artworks will be exhibited at the WAVES Summit, with the top three receiving awards, details of which will be announced soon.
Participants can select from films such as Neecha Nagar (1946), Pather Panchali (1955), Mother India (1957), Chemmeen (1965), Pakeezah (1972), Disco Dancer (1982), Salaam Bombay! (1988), Lagaan (2001), Devdas (2002), and The Lunchbox (2013).
“This initiative aims to foster creativity and pay homage to India’s rich film poster tradition,” the ministry said in a statement. Organizers say the event seeks to bridge cultures through visual storytelling and artistic expression.
The challenge is part of WAVES, a global summit dedicated to promoting audio-visual arts and entertainment. It is organized in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation – National Film Archive of India (NFDC-NFAI) and Image Nation Street Art.
