The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the Olympic hockey schedule for Paris 2024. The Indian men's hockey team is scheduled to play New Zealand on July 27 to open the 2024 Olympic campaign in Paris.
India, ranked fourth in the FIH rankings, is paired alongside the defending Olympic champions Belgium (world ranked No. 2), Australia (ranked No. 5), Argentina (ranked No. 7), New Zealand (ranked No. 10), and Ireland (ranked No. 12) in Pool B of the men's hockey competition in Paris 2024.
The Men in Blue will play Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia on August 1 and defending champions Belgium on August 2. India earned its spot in Paris 2024 by winning the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games.
Top-ranked Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, South Africa, and the host nation, France make up pool A. The top four teams from each pool advance to the quarterfinals after teams play each other once during the group stage.
The men's hockey medal round matches for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are set for August 8.
Eight-time champions India won a historic bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It was India's first hockey medal at the Olympics after a 41-year absence. The Indian women's hockey team was not selected for the Ranchi qualifying event, hence they will not play in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
