India mulls evacuating Indians from Haiti
Jaiswal said that between 75 to 90 Indian nationals are currently in Haiti

Amid escalating violence in Haiti, India considers evacuating around 90 of its citizens from the Caribbean nation, as per statements made by External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Mar. 15 during his weekly media briefing.
The deteriorating security situation in Haiti has seen multiple coordinated attacks by various gangs targeting crucial installations, with the aim to pressure Prime Minister Ariel Henry into stepping down.
Jaiswal said that between 75 to 90 Indian nationals are currently in Haiti, with approximately 60 having registered with Indian authorities expressing their desire to return to India if necessary.
In view of the ongoing developments in Haiti, a 24-hour Control room has been set up at @MEAIndia to provide information and assistance.

"We are prepared to evacuate all individuals," Jaiswal assured during his weekly media briefing.
Given that India does not maintain an embassy in Haiti, monitoring of the situation falls under the responsibility of the Indian mission in Santo Domingo, the capital of the neighboring Dominican Republic.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has set up control rooms and emergency helplines in Santo Domingo and New Delhi to address any urgent matters related to the safety of Indian nationals in Haiti.
“We are monitoring the situation. If required, we are ready to evacuate (the Indians),” Jaiswal said.
The Indian embassy in Santo Domingo has been actively engaged with Indians residing in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, as well as those in other regions of the country.
