The India Society of Worcester (ISW), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Indian culture and community in Massachusetts, celebrated its 61st anniversary and the 36th annual India Day on Aug.10, at the DCU Center in Worcester.

The event's primary attraction was the cultural program, which featured music and dance performances that celebrated India's artistic heritage. The occasion also witnessed the launch of ISW's inaugural Business Expo and Job Fair, providing attendees with networking opportunities and career prospects.

Notable highlights of the event included the debut of a song by the ISW vocal ensemble, a Sanskrit skit by the Sanskrit class at the ISW School, and the introduction of on-site-prepared dosas, which quickly became a favorite among attendees.

Additionally, the event featured an art fair displaying traditional and contemporary Indian art, a vendors bazaar offering various crafts and jewelry, and interactive activities led by the India Youth Group and Sports Group.

Shiamin Melville, a long-standing ISW member, shared her reflections: “As a long-time veteran attendee of India Day, my favorite part is meeting the families of our volunteers and reconnecting with our alumni volunteers and former school students. For me, it’s like a family gathering combined with a school reunion, mixed in with great dances and food.”
