India's Joint Secretary for International Cooperation, Vishwesh Negi met the US Acting Assistant Secretary of Defence for Space Policy, Vipin Narang, as part of the second annual US-India Advanced Domains Defense Dialogue (AD3) at Pentagon in Washington on May.23. The first such meeting was held in New Delhi in 2023.

Narang and Negi discussed opportunities to strengthen space cooperation and also identified potential areas for collaboration with the US industry, according to a statement released by US Department of Defence Spokesperson Cmdr Jessica Anderson.

Talks with the Indian delegation also featured members of the US Space Command, the Joint Commercial Operations Cell, and artificial intelligence experts from the US Department of Defense, the statement said.

The meeting was held to execute a commitment made in 2022 between the US Secretary of Defense and India's Defence Minister to deepen collaboration on evolving and emerging defense domains, including space. The visiting Indian government delegation agreed to advance the AD3 dialogue through regular discussions in the future.

On May.24, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti met Indian Space Research Organization Chairman S. Somanath at ISRO's headquarters. Garcetti discussed NASA's role in India’s proposal for a G-20 satellite that could help achieve positive climate change.
Garcetti had also recently promised that America would send an Indian astronaut to the International Space Station by the end of 2024.
