Indian Ambassador to US lauds IITs' contributions to tech

Sandhu highlighted the importance of India-US relationship and the role played by institutions like IIT to facilitate positive change.

India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, highlighted the importance of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the value they add to the tech ecosystem. He made the remarks during his virtual address at the IIT Global Conference in Washington on Jan.12

Address the IIT alumni during a pre-recorded session on India Rising, Sandhu said, “Excellence is not an act but a habit. You have consistently demonstrated your brilliance to the world. You have made contributions to the tech and innovation ecosystem in India, as well as the US, and globally. It is no surprise that several top CEOs in the US today are from IITs.”

Reflecting on the theme for the IIT2024 Global Conference— India Rising, Sandhu outlined how the country’s technological prowess has the potential to alter the “course of human existence.”

Highlighting the progress India has made in recent years, Sandhu said, “India Rising is not just about the rise of India. It is about the world rising with her too. We have always believed sharing is success and success is to be shared. All these present huge opportunities for the world.”

Concluding his address by highlighting the significance of the India-US relationship in a rapidly evolving world, the ambassador said, “In these times of change, India and United States relationship and roles of institutions like IIT have become very critical. Your ability to adapt, innovate, and facilitate positive change are valuable now than ever before.Dream big, think smart and act fast, we have a whole new world to build together.”
