Indian-American bestowed with honorary doctorate by Washington Adventist University

Indian-American Jasdip (Jesse) Singh and Maximus Investment Group President Sajid Tarar, a Pakistan-American, were awarded honorary doctorates for their service to the community by the Washington Adventist University (WAU) on May.5.
Apart from being the COO of the private non-profit ‘Center for Social Change’, Dr Jesse Singh is also the president of the Sikhs of America association.
Through various initiatives and programs, both Tarar and Singh have worked to ensure that these communities receive the attention and resources that they had needed to thrive, the university said in a statement.
“This honor is a reminder for me to partner and expand the vision of WAU,” Dr Singh said at the felicitation event.
In its largest program, the ‘Center for Social Change’ provides community-based residential support to adults and children with developmental disabilities.
Meanwhile, Dr Tarar is also the CEO of the CSC organization.
“Tarar’s dedication to education is another key factor in why he was honored with an honorary PhD. Recognizing the power of education to transform lives, he has initiated and supported numerous educational programs aimed at providing educational opportunities for the underserved. These programs often focus on adult education, vocational training, and language acquisition, which are crucial for integrating into society and the workforce,” the university stated.
“As a leader, he (Tarar) has galvanized support from various sectors, including businesses, non-profits, and government agencies, crafting partnerships that leverage resources and expertise for the common good. His leadership style emphasizes empathy, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to justice and equality. These qualities have not only endeared him to those he works with but have also made him a respected and influential figure in social advocacy circles,” WAU further said in the release.
