An Indian-American CEO after a 15-hour non-stop flight from Chicago to Delhi has raised serious concerns about the quality of service on Indian airlines Air India's flight.
Anip Patel, CEO of CaPatel Investments, who spent $6,300 on a one-way first-class ticket, slammed the airline through a video posted on Instagram, calling the experience "far from pleasant."
Patel began his video by stating, "Come with me on the worst first-class cabin I ever been on. This is Chicago to Delhi non-stop Air India. It was $6300 one-way for 250,000 miles. Look at how gross this is."
His footage showed a cabin he described as "broken" and "dirty." “There was hair in there, things moving in every compartment, everything was ripped, or ruined or had little mildew on it,” Patel continued, expressing his disbelief over the condition of the first-class section.
“Everything was just ripped, broken,” Patel reiterated, showing stains on the recliner seat, which he said could have been easily cleaned. He also noted that 30 percent of the items on the “very promising” food menu were unavailable, with other options provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Patel ordered nuts, samosas, and soup. While he described the samosas as "average," he praised the soup as "delicious," calling it the "only good thing on the flight."
Highlighting more issues, Patel pointed to a cold towel presented as a warm face wipe. However, he did find some redeeming factors, such as Ferragamo-branded amenities and soft pajamas.
Despite this, his frustration deepened when he received untangled headphones and a non-functional entertainment system, for the entire 15-hour duration of the flight. In a final note of dissatisfaction, Patel labeled the experience "a nightmare.”
His video which has gained 7.5 Million views, has sparked debate about Air India's refurbishment efforts and service standards. Notably, the airline also refunded the ticket money to Patel following the video of his experience going viral.
