The Indian American Impact has officially endorsed Mayor Ravinder Singh Bhalla for his primary candidacy for the US House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District. Bhalla's potential election would mark a significant milestone as the first South Asian representative from New Jersey to Congress.

Bhalla, born to Indian immigrants, has a background as a civil rights attorney. He gained national recognition for reforming federal visitation policies in correctional facilities. From 2008 to 2016, he served on the Hoboken City Council, focusing on initiatives to combat corruption and mismanagement. Subsequently, he assumed mayoral roles starting in 2017, securing re-election in 2021, demonstrating his innovative leadership and commitment to progress in Hoboken.

Taher Hasanali, Indian American Impact's National Political Director, expressed confidence in Bhalla's candidacy, highlighting his track record of championing justice and inclusivity.
Hasanali emphasized Bhalla's accomplishments saying, “Ravi's track record of championing justice, combating discrimination, and ensuring all New Jerseyans can pursue the American dream speaks volumes about his commitment to our values. His accomplishments as a civil rights attorney and as Mayor of Hoboken demonstrate his dedication to tackling corruption, reforming policies, and moving communities forward.”
In response to the endorsement, Bhalla expressed gratitude for the support of Indian American Impact, emphasizing the organization's role in promoting diversity and inclusion in government. He echoed their belief in the strength of America's diversity and the enrichment brought by immigrant communities.
“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of Indian American Impact, an organization that works to ensure that our government draws on the talents of all our people, including those from communities that have been too often excluded.
