Indian American Impact endorses South Asian candidates

Since its establishment in 2016, Indian American Impact has endorsed and backed 166 candidates nationwide, playing a pivotal role in the significant increase of Indian and South Asian American representation in politics

Indian American Impact has released its latest round of endorsements, bringing the total number of endorsed candidates for the 2024 election cycle to 35.

Indian American Impact has endorsed several candidates for various positions in the 2024 election cycle. In Arizona, incumbent Ravi Shah is endorsed for the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board. In Georgia, Ashwin Ramaswami is endorsed for State Senate District 48. 



New York endorsements include incumbent Zohran Mamdani for State Assembly District 36 and Jeremy Cooney for State Senate District 56. 



Pavan Parikh is endorsed for Hamilton County Clerk of Courts in Ohio and incumbent Nikil Saval is endorsed for State Senate District 1 in Pennsylvania. 



In Texas, Sumbel Zeb was endorsed by Indian American Impact for Collin Central Appraisal District Board of Directors, Taral Patel for Fort Bend County Commissioner Precinct 3, Nabil Shike for Fort Bend County Constable Precinct 3, Ashika Ganguly for Austin City Council District 10, and Suleman Lalani for State House District 76.

Through targeted investments and grassroots initiatives, Impact has directed over $20 million to candidates, along with extensive voter mobilization and policy advocacy campaigns. These efforts have empowered South Asian American voices and facilitated meaningful change in communities across the country.

Taher Hasanali, Indian American Impact’s national political director said, “South Asian Americans are ascending to positions of leadership in public service at an extraordinary rate. Today, we’re proud to unequivocally support 11 Indian and South Asian Americans in six states running for office across all levels of local and state government: city council to state senate.”

“Each of these trailblazers is committed to championing our community’s priorities such as public education and increasing access to healthcare. Their unwavering commitment promises to enhance the lives of all Americans, while paving the way for future generations of South Asian leaders,” he added.
