Indian American lawmakers commend Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement

Indian American lawmakers have expressed support for the ceasefire agreement brokered between Israel and Hezbollah, calling it a crucial step toward de-escalation in the region. The agreement, announced by President Joe Biden, aims to halt hostilities and ensure safety for civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.
Congressman Shri Thanedar, representative from Michigan's 13th district, welcomed the news, highlighting its significance for his constituents. “I am encouraged by the recent news from President Biden that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed on a ceasefire,” Thanedar said in a statement.
“This devastating conflict has been heart-breaking to many in my district, and a ceasefire agreement in the war against Hezbollah means increased safety for both the Israeli and Lebanese people who are affected by the violence. I hope that this agreement represents a renewed opportunity for future peace agreements in the Middle East. I commend President Biden, Secretary Blinken, and everyone who worked hard to negotiate this peace agreement,” he added.

Representative Ami Bera of California’s 6th district, also praised the ceasefire, emphasizing its importance for civilian safety and regional stability. In a post on X, Bera noted, “I commend the Administration for its diplomatic efforts in securing this critical agreement that allows for Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return to their homes and marks a significant step toward de-escalation in the region.”
