In response to the unprecedented missile barrage launched by Iran against Israel, several Indian American lawmakers have issued strong condemnations, calling for de-escalation in the region.

Representative Ami Bera, a member of the House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs Committees, condemned the Iranian attack and lauded the Biden administration's efforts to defend Israel.

“I strongly condemn these escalatory attacks by Iran and applaud the Biden-Harris administration’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel and its people," Bera stated. He also called for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions, noting, “While I have not yet been briefed by the Administration, we must continue working to de-escalate tensions and seek a resolution that creates lasting peace and stability in the region.”

Similarly, Representative Ro Khanna said, “This targeted civilians and is a blatant violation of Israel's sovereignty. I stand with the people of Israel during these horrific attacks,” Khanna said.

Representative Shri Thanedar, a democrat from Michigan also expressed his support for Israel, stating, "Today's Iranian attack must be condemned unequivocally. We must stand with Israel against Iran and Iranian-backed proxies like Hezbollah."

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched the attack on Oct 1, firing nearly 200 missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon and the assassination of key leaders from Hamas, Hezbollah, and the IRGC.

The missile barrage, which Iran claimed was aimed at “vital military and security targets,” marked the first use of Iran's new Fatah hypersonic ballistic missiles. Iranian state media reported that 90 percent of the projectiles hit their targets, though Israeli and U.S. officials stated that most of the missiles were intercepted.

The Israeli military confirmed that it intercepted a large number of the 180 ballistic missiles but noted that isolated impacts occurred in central and southern Israel. Alarms rang out across major cities as the missiles landed, injuring two people in Tel Aviv. The attack was accompanied by a significant cyber offensive, further complicating the situation.
