Indian American lawmakers condemn violence in Pakistan
Official sources reveal that at least 17 civilians have been killed and hundreds injured by gunfire from military and paramilitary forces.

Indian American lawmakers, including Rep. Ro Khanna and Raja Krishnamoorthi, have condemned the ongoing violence in Pakistan and called for decisive US action against the military regime led by General Asim Munir.
The lawmakers urged measures such as visa bans and asset freezes on senior Pakistani officials to address what they described as brutal crackdowns on peaceful protesters.
Rep. Ro Khanna wrote on X, “Horrified by reports of an attempted cover-up of the alleged killings of peaceful protesters by Asim Munir's regime in Pakistan. The US must impose visa bans and asset freezes on senior officials in the military regime.”
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi expressed similar concerns, stating, “I am deeply disturbed that Pakistan’s security forces are cracking down on demonstrations with violent tactics including live ammunition and mass arrests. I condemn this violence and urge the government to allow peaceful protests to continue.”
The condemnations come amidst alarming reports of violence and alleged attempts to suppress information about the casualties. Official sources reveal that at least 17 civilians have been killed and hundreds injured by gunfire from military and paramilitary forces. Doctors in Islamabad hospitals have reported treating over 40 gunshot victims, with at least seven deaths confirmed.
Both lawmakers emphasized the need for the US to stand firm against authoritarianism and ensure accountability for those responsible for the violence.
