Indian American activist and Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani’s podcast My So-Called Midlife has been ranked eighth on the list of TIME’s 10 best podcasts of 2024.
The show has been praised for its candid exploration of midlife challenges faced by women and its actionable advice on navigating this life stage.
Produced in collaboration with Lemonada Media, My So-Called Midlife addresses the crises, boredom, and restlessness often associated with midlife. Early guests include Julia Louis-Dreyfus, economist Emily Oster, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
The guests offer guidance on navigating a challenging period when “kids are leaving the home, careers stall, and the body begins to shift.”
According to TIME magazine, Saujani takes cues from fellow Lemonada podcaster Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose Wiser Than Me podcast focuses on insights from women in their 70s and beyond. However, Saujani’s show has what TIME called an “almost pleading vulnerability” as she seeks advice on enduring and thriving.
Sharing the news, Saujani said in a statement , “This is truly the best gift, and acknowledgement that women in midlife are finally getting the spotlight we deserve.”
“While I’m still a work in progress, I’m excited to go on this journey with an entire community of listeners. Thank you all for being along for the ride. I hope it helps you as much as it is helping me.”
Recognized alongside legacy programs like 99 percent Invisible, Saujani’s podcast demonstrates her ongoing commitment to creating platforms that amplify women’s voices and experiences.
