Indian-American scientist concludes Fulbright Specialist Program in South Africa
Selected for the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright Specialist Program, Katti led research and educational initiatives at the University of Johannesburg from Jul.2 to Aug.12.

Indian-American scientist Dr. Kattesh V. Katti has completed his tenure as a Fulbright Specialist in South Africa, where he advanced his work in green nanotechnology and nano-ayurvedic medicine.
Selected for the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright Specialist Program, Katti led research and educational initiatives at the University of Johannesburg from Jul.2 to Aug.12.
Katti's work focused on enhancing African medicine through plant-based nanotechnology. "Our objectives centered on training and educating faculty and students on the implications of green nanotechnology to African medicine," he said. "We feel we exceeded our goals with this Fulbright Specialist endeavor."
Katti was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Kavita Katti, a senior research scientist at the University of Missouri (MU). Together, they trained over 45 students from various South African universities in green nanotechnology.
In addition to his primary work at the University of Johannesburg, Katti delivered lectures at other South African universities, including Zululand and Witwatersrand. "This trip allowed us to showcase MU's educational and research programs on an international stage," Katti added.
Professors Patrick Berka Njobeh and Oluwafemi Adebo from the University of Johannesburg co-hosted the Kattis. Njobeh noted that Katti’s work aligns with traditional African healing practices and has made a lasting impact on the community.
Katti, who completed his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science in 1984, continues to build on his Indian roots while contributing to global scientific advancements.
