In the wake of the devastating terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley, which claimed the lives of at least 28 tourists and injured dozens more, Indian-American lawmakers voiced strong condemnation and solidarity with the victims.​

Congressman Shri Thanedar expressed his condolences, stating, "My heart goes out to the victims of today’s terrorist attack in India’s Kashmir. I wish the injured a quick recovery, and my deepest sympathy goes out to the victims and their families."

Representative Ami Bera also conveyed his distress over the incident, remarking, "I am greatly disturbed by the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed at least 20 civilians and injured dozens more. My thoughts are with the victims and all those impacted by this horrific event."​

Congressman Ro Khanna denounced the violence, stating, "I strongly condemn the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. The gunman killed at least two dozen tourists at this beautiful sightseeing town. I stand with the people of India at this moment, and offer condolences and prayers to the families of the victims"

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi added, “I am heartbroken by the horrific attack on innocent tourists in Kashmir. My prayers are with the victims and their families as they mourn and grapple with this senseless violence. We must stand united against terrorism in all its forms and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

FIIDS USA, a policy research and diaspora engagement platform, condemned the attack in strong terms, stating, “We strongly condemn the horrific terrorist attack in Kashmir. U.S. and India have been burned by terror. The world must stand united to eradicate terrorism in all its forms, everywhere.” The group emphasized solidarity through hashtags such as #UnitedAgainstTerror and #JihadiTerrorism.

HinduACTion, a U.S.-based Hindu advocacy organization, also released a detailed statement calling the Pahalgam attack a “targeted massacre” by Pakistan-backed Islamist terrorists. The group noted that some of its members from Ohio had visited the exact site of the attack just days earlier. Drawing parallels to earlier massacres such as Chattisinghpora, they highlighted the strategic timing of the attack during Vice President Vance’s visit, warning that Islamist extremism remains an existential global threat.

The attack occurred on April 22, when militants opened fire on a group of tourists at a meadow resort in Baisaran, near Pahalgam. The victims included Indian citizens from Karnataka, Odisha, and Gujarat, as well as two foreign nationals. ​

The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, citing opposition to demographic changes in the region following the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status in 2019. ​

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, cutting short a foreign visit to address the situation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah traveled to Srinagar to oversee a high-level security review and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. ​
